Counselling for Life-Limiting & Terminal Illness
A terminal or life-limiting diagnosis changes everything — not only for the person who has received it, but for everyone who loves them.
If it’s your diagnosis, you may be carrying fear, anger, grief for a future you expected to have, or the exhausting work of managing how everyone else is feeling about it. Many people tell me they want somewhere to be completely honest, without softening things for the people they love. That’s what these sessions are for.
If it’s someone close to you, you may be experiencing what’s sometimes called anticipatory grief — grieving in advance, while the person is still here. It’s a real and specific kind of loss, and one that often goes unrecognised, because there isn’t a clear moment people expect you to be grieving yet. You don’t have to wait until afterwards to talk about it.
Why hospice experience matters
I bring my hospice experience into every session — I understand the medical realities you may be navigating, the strange pace of this kind of illness, and how much it can ask of a family. You won’t need to explain the basics before we can get to what actually matters to you.
Sessions are private, unhurried, and shaped around where you are — whether that’s early after a diagnosis, deep in the middle of it, or in the anticipatory grief that comes before a loss.
If this sounds like what you need, get in touch and we can arrange an initial conversation.
